The Gilbert Street garden beds will be revamped to improve presentation and amenity for all visitors and businesses in the precinct.
Greening Gilbert Street will take place in stages between now and summer. The first stage of works will commence following a decent rainfall. The high, strappy Lomandras and gravel mulch will be removed to improve sightlines and reduce slip hazards.
There will be minimal disruption with no road or footpath closures. Work in the beds will be done in four hour blocks.
The beds will then be mulched and left for some time before being replanted with Coastal Fan Flower which flowers in spring, summer and autumn.

The beautification of Gilbert Street is a pre-cursor to stage one of Council's $1m Torquay Town Centre Project commitment.
